Edging
(surfing, peaking, teasing...)

Also known as surfing, peaking and teasing, edging is the practice of bringing yourself (or someone else) close to orgasm, then stopping before reaching sexual climax.

The idea is to do this a few times, so that sexual energy is built up to create an enhanced and extremely intense orgasm! Edging can be practiced alone or with a partner and works well for both vulva owners and penis owners.

A method of edging for penis owners:
  • stimulate yourself to the point just before orgasm
  • squeeze the head of your penis to stop the orgasm
  • wait 30 seconds and repeat until you are ready to experience a super ejaculation!

Edging can help with the control of ejaculation, especially for those who would like to prevent premature ejaculation.

A common MYTH is that edging causes a semen 'back up' in the body. This is not true! If you try edging and cum, the ejaculate (sperm) will be released from the body. If you try edging and don't cum, your body will naturally break down the ejaculate created from stimulation.

A method of edging for vulva owners: (clitoral method)
  • focus on stimulating your clitoris, perhaps with fingers and lube or a vibrator
  • stimulate your clit until you feel you are close to reaching orgasm
  • back off completely or go slower to avoid cumming
  • repeat until ready to cum

Vulva owners can also try edging techniques with g-spot orgasms. Edging is beneficial for understanding the body and how to reach a sexual climax.

Tips
  • if you are practising edging with a partner, communication is EVERYTHING!
  • always ask for consent when practising with a partner (ask for consent in ANY sexual encounter!)
  • similarly, never delay someone's pleasure without their consent!
  • edging isn't for everyone! It can be frustrating and is not a practice that all will like.
